QUETTA: With their sway and influence, tribal chiefs must play their due role in resolving inter and intra-tribal conflicts that are causing massive losses – of life, property and reputation – in the province.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed these views while talking to newsmen in Khuzdar after paying a condolence visit to the family of Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) leader Nawab Amanullah Khan Zarakzai, who was gunned down along with his grandson and two others last week.

He strongly condemned the killing of Nawab Zarakzai and said that all efforts would be utilised for the arrest of all the accused nominated in the case. “We have sought the assistance of other institutions who will work on the case along with the police and Levies force,” he said.

Provincial ministers Zia Langove, Zamarak Khan Piralizai, Mir Nasibullah Marri, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Bushra Rind, Kalat Division Commissioner Hafiz Tahir and other officials accompanied the chief minister.

Kamal said that investigation of the murder of Nawab Amanullah Zarakzai is under way and every possible measure would be taken to arrest those involved in the ambush.

“Nobody is above the law. Even those whose names have been nominated in the police report,” Kamal said, adding that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the arrest of the accused.

Replying to a question, Kamal said peace has been restored in Balochistan after a long struggle and unforgettable sacrifices of the people and the security forces.

“Balochistan has been bleeding due to tribal conflicts. Tribal chieftains and elders now need to step forward and take initiatives for the solution of these disputes.”
