DRAP creates 25 posts for drug inspectors

Adopts online registration of drugs to facilitate pharma firms

ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has created 25 new posts for Federal Drug Inspectors for efficient market surveillance besides adopting internationally harmonised online system for fee submission and registration of drugs.

DRAP has taken concrete steps for strengthening its systems to ensure public access to quality and safe medicines, said the spokesperson to the authority.

The measures are in line with the mission of Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Zafar Mirza, the spokesperson said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Drug court to try firms refusing to cut prices

Public health promotion and protection is a priority and DRAP has a significant role to play in betterment of healthcare system. DRAP is adopting best practices to become a modern day regulatory body.

In order to eradicate menace of spurious, smuggled and unregistered medicine from market and protect public, DRAP has created 25 posts for Federal Inspectors of drugs to be posted throughout the country. A roadmap has been prepared for training these inspectors according to international standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sample collection and market surveillance.

In this regards, DRAP has implemented Integrated Regulatory Information Management System (IRIMS) for online submission of fee, registration application, renewal of registration for drugs and post registration variations.
