QUETTA: Acknowledging the link between family planning and sexual and reproductive health services (SRH), the Population Welfare Department (PWD) brought together the stakeholders from the sector to deliberate upon strengthening cooperation among the departments and the private sector to improve family planning services in the province.

The meeting, which was called by the PWD secretary, was attended by People’s Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aziz Jamali, Population Welfare Department Director General Aurangzaib, PWD Planning Director Tariq Masud, MNCH Provincial Coordinator Dr Gul Sabin Azam and Dr Rasheed from United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) along with other officers.

The meeting discussed ways to improve coordination in activities linked to family planning and SRH to expand the quantum of family services offered to people and bring them to their doorsteps.

The administrative leaders also discussed UNFPA-funded work plan in Balochistan with a view to intensifying active engagement of key partners involved in family planning. They also agreed upon the constitution of a task force or a steering committee to oversee the progress on such services and coordination among the departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the PWD secretary suggested that the corporate sector may also be involved in promoting family planning services as part of corporate social responsibility.
