Self Help Strategy: DC for promoting kitchen gardening

FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner (DC) Syed Tahir Husain has asked the Agriculture Department to launch an awareness and training drive to promote kitchen gardening in the district. The program is being initiated to allow people to grow their own vegetables and cut down on expenses. Husain told the Agriculture Department that a Kitchen Gardening Programme could easily help people cope with the price hike regarding daily use items. “This will also help provide healthy and hygienic quality vegetables for people without wasting precious time and money haggling in the vegetable market,” he said. Husain asked that a comprehensive strategy for sowing vegetables at open places on state lands be initiated in addition to cultivating experimental plots to promote kitchen gardening.
