KARACHI: The recent release of local productions such as Tum Hi To Ho and Round About has disappointed cinema owners and stakeholders in the Pakistani film industry are now looking to Heer Maan Ja and other films to recover.

Both Tum Hi to Ho and Round About were Urdu language films. According to sources, the Arbaz Khan-directed Tum Hi to Ho flopped at the box office, failing to live up to the public's expectations.

People think we are Bollywood when they talk about Pakistani cinema: Ali Rehman Khan

Earlier, cinema owners and distributors were hopeful to receive good feedback from both the films but alas, both Tum Hi to Ho and Round About barely got any attention, revealed sources. It is pertinent to mention here that the local cinema industry is experiencing a great lull due to the nation-wide ban on Indian films, making the coming Eid a very critical time for producers and stake-holders.

Nonetheless, they are hopeful of a warm response towards Heer Maan Ja since it will be released under the banner of Distribution Club and  shown at more cinema houses across Pakistan. The romantic comedy stars Ali Rehman Khan, Hareem Farooq, Faizan Sheikh and Imran Azmi in the lead roles and is directed by Azfar N'afei. The story revolves around the issues and challenges for youth in current era.

Heer Maan Ja is a production of IR films, which earlier produced Janaan and Parchi. "There is action, suspense, romance, love and comedy in this film and after the release of the title song and the response it got on social media, we are confident. Heer Maan Ja will prove a sigh of relief for us on Eid," CEO of Distribution Club Sheikh Amjad Rasheed told The Express Tribune.

But the film will release alongside two other major films, namely Parey Hut Love and Superstar. "There will be competition, Heer Maan Ja is the best regarding its production music and script."
