Development: K-P hydel profits to go to power projects

Power generation projects will generate 800 megawatts to cater to the economy’s growing need.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakthunkhwa Senior Minister Rahimdad Khan said on Sunday that work on 11 hydroelectric power projects is starting to tap the province’s power potential. Khan told journalists that the government has decided to spend its profits from hydroelectricity on power generation projects which will generate 800 megawatts to cater to the economy’s growing need. He said the province stood on its own feet after the NFC award and now devolution of federal ministries will strengthen federation and empower people. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, chairman and members of Implementation Commission deserve full credit and appreciation for giving provincial autonomy to provinces, he added.
