Minister calls for Alzheimer clinics at govt hospitals

The basic purpose behind inaugurating the facility is to ensure that Alzheimer patients

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid directed to establish memory and Alzheimer clinics at all government hospitals.

She issued these directions while inaugurating the Memory and Alzheimer's clinic in Services Institute of Medical Service (SIMS). SIMS Principal Mehmood Ayaz, Services Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Saleem Cheema and other senior doctors were also present at the occasion.

Dr Yasmeen Rashid spoke with doctors and patients at the. She also participated in the walk related to World Mental Health Day. Speaking at the occasion, the health minister said that the basic purpose behind inaugurating the facility is to ensure that Alzheimer patients get the best treatment possible.

“Four billion people in Pakistan are suffering from Alzheimer's and short memory problems,” she said. The age factor is the basic reason for this disease, she said.
