Food outlets served notices

For unhygienic and poor cleanliness conditions

RAWALPINDI: The Food Branch of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has issued 12 notices to food outlets for unhygienic and poor cleanliness conditions, an RCB statement said on Monday.

According to the statement, 14 samples of food served at these outlets were collected which were sent to a lab for quality tests while fines were also imposed on violators of food safety and hygiene rules.

Cases of substandard food items were also sent to the court of the cantonment magistrate which imposed fines on the violators.

Food inspectors on the directive of the Cantonment CEO Sibtain Raza raided different markets including Saddar, Allahabad, Peshawar Road and other areas and inspected cleanliness condition with quality of food items at 25 food outlets. In order to ensure the supply of quality food items to the residents, he said, the teams were conducting raids at food outlets in different areas on a daily basis.
