BHAKKAR: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested two government employees, including a land record assistant director, over corruption charges.

ACE authorities on Thursday said that Muhammad Ilyas, a resident of Mankera tehsil in Bhakkar, stated in his application to Regional Director ACE Shahbaz Hussain Shah that Land Record Assistant Director Anayatullah and Naib Qasid Mukhtar Hussain were demanding a bribe of Rs10,000 to correct his land records. On the orders of the regional director, Circle Officer Bhakkar Abid Hussain conducted a raid at the office on Thursday and arrested both suspects, while also recovering the said amount.

Sindh plagued by corruption, says Justice Gulzar

Inayatullah admitted to taking bribe and said Hussain was in possession of the amount. Both were presented before Mankera Judicial Magistrate Nadeem Rehmat Rasool who directed officials to register a case and send the suspects to jail.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Sargodha Anti-Corruption Director Syed Shehbaz Hussain Naqvi, after the arrests of two employees, said they would continue action against the corrupt mafia.

During a meeting with all inquiry, investigative and legal officers of the Sargodha Region Anti-Corruption Establishment, Naqvi said that they would continue operation against corrupt elements.

“You should not issue a challan to any innocent citizen and should not leave any corrupt man,” he advised officers. He further directed officials to submit the challan of all the old cases in the court after completing legal necessary procedures.

“There is no need to take vengeful action and do not take any steps without hearing out all stakeholders,” he said.

‘Absence of a master plan for Karachi benefits corrupt officials'

Naqvi directed ACE Sargodha Assistant Director Monitoring Nisar Ahmed Joya to organise case-to-case meetings with three officers on a daily basis. He added every officer would share a complete briefing of the case.

Joya ordered all officers to work with honesty and improve the reputation of the department.

Last month, ACE arrested the Water Management Assistant Director over misuse of power and corruption.
