'Addi Maar' from 'Heer Maan Ja' is one mehendi song you won't want to dance to

KARACHI: Starring Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman Khan, Heer Maan Ja is another one of the Eid releases this year. Helmed by Azfar Jafri, the rom-com comes from the makers of Parchi.

The first song to release from its music album is Addi Maar, a second collaboration with Sahara UK after Billo Hai from Parchi.

Just like Billo Hai, the track has been sung by Herbie Sahara and Nindy Kaur. But, unlike Billo Hai, their powerful vocals and the peppy music by Manj Musik do not make Addi Maar the upbeat wedding number it aspires to be.

Featuring Khan, the male lead of the film and actor Zara Sheikh, who is making a comeback on the big screen through this song, Addi Maar disappoints with its tongue and cheek lyrics like 'Dilaan di tu chor,' inspired by the Punjabi tappe. In other words, done and dusted ages ago.

Choreographed by Faizan Uddin, the steps are nothing we have not seen before. The visuals do not wow the viewers, despite mehendi being the theme of the number.

As for Sheikh, while her entry will excite fans, it will also feel like she is picking right from she left: the early 2000s. Not everyone can ace that thumka (pelvic thrust) and the actor proves it.

Also, girl, that makeup, hairdo and wardrobe are so gone last decade! It is 2019 and no matter how low a film's budget may be, a diva from the past should at least look like one when making a comeback, especially with so much competition around.

Heer Maan Ja includes Faizan Sheikh in the role of an antagonist, along with Mojiz Hasan and Shumayle Khattak in supporting roles.

Produced by Imran Raza Kazmi, Hareem Farooq and Arif Lakhani, the film is set to release this Eidul Azha nationwide.
