4,700 cops to secure polls in Khyber, FR

PESHAWAR: Ahead of the July 20 by-elections for general seats of the provincial assembly in the erstwhile federally administered tribal areas (Fata), the Peshawar police have chalked out a security plan for the Khyber Tribal District and the FR (Frontier Region). In this regard, it has been decided to depute over 4,734 policemen, including officers at 369 polling stations.

Moreover, Women police officials, Quick Response Force Mobiles and other forces will be available with sniffer dogs round the clock to meet any eventuality. Similarly, checkpoints will be set up at all sensitive points on election day. At the 342 polling stations in the Khyber Tribal District, including 131 for women, 181 for men and 30 joint have been set up. Similarly, 27 polling stations including five each for men and women and 17 joint have been set up in Hassan Khel area of FR Peshawar.
