Dr Imam said that cattle markets should be established only in places that have been reserved for the purpose. He added that steps should be taken against illegal cattle markets. He said that the main roads and connecting roads leading to and from the cattle market at Super Highway as well as its surrounding areas should be surveyed by the respective area police stations and successful raids should be conducted to curb crime in areas most affected by it.
The IGP said that patrolling, picketing and random snap checking on the highway and other roads should be made more stringent to ensure the security of vehicles transporting cattle as well as the sellers and buyers in the markets. He added that security and traffic arrangements should also be made in the parking lots and pickets should be established for the security of the buyers and sellers in the cattle markets.
The contingency plan should assign responsibilities of recce, surveillance and intelligence gathering. It should also include bomb disposal squad, said the IGP. He added that efforts should be made for the provision of uninterrupted communication with zonal and district wireless bases, Madadgar 15 and relevant police stations.
Dr Imam said that compliance with standard operating procedure for defence should be ensured at every level and all police officials should be briefed in this regard. He said that police should comply with the instructions issued from the central command and control centre at the central police office.
