DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least seven people were killed and three others were injured when two tribes clashed in the Satoriani village of Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday.

According to local police, the armed clash erupted between the two Pakhakhel and Madozai tribes over a dispute surrounding drawing water for irrigation in the area. The Chodwan police said that one of the tribes wanted to draw water to irrigate their fields before the other tribe in violation of their set schedule of turns for drawn water.

The dispute quickly escalated with both sides opening fire at each other.

Among those killed were two brothers Latif, Ahmed Shah and Asmat Shah of the same family. They died on the spot. Seven others were also injured. They were rushed to the DI Khan district headquarters hospital for treatment by locals. Four of those injured succumbed to their injuries while going to the hospital.
