Korean embassy holds ‘K-Pop Festival’

14 teams from all over Pakistan participate in the festival’s preliminary round

ISLAMABAD: The craze of K-Pop has reached the serene landscapes of the federal capital as the Korean Embassy hosted the Changwon K-Pop World Festival 2019 preliminary round at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Pakistani fans and lovers of K-pop used the opportunity to showcase their talents.

The K-Pop World Festival is an annual global music and dance competition, which is organised by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), one of South Korea’s leading television channels.

It was astonishing to see around 14 teams from across Pakistan participating in the festival’s preliminary round. They competed in two categories of singing and dancing.

Each of the performances was enhanced by the colourful lighting at the PNCA auditorium.

South Korean Ambassador Kwak Sung-Kyu, appreciated the strong interest of the competitors and the audience in K-Pop, commonly known as a part of Hallyu or Korean waves.

He also underlined the global fever of K-Pop which has attracted several young K-Pop fans all over the world, as well as in Pakistan.

Sung-Kyu reiterated his commitment to promoting the bilateral cultural interactions between Korea and Pakistan to new heights in the days ahead.

The event was quite successful, as the audience showed enthusiastic responses to the energetic performances.
