Air Chief distributes cash prizes to Special Olympics athletes

Air Chief Mujahid Anwar Khan distributed cash prizes among medal holders in the Special Olympics during a special ceremony held at central air command of the Pakistan Air Force in Lahore on Sunday.

A total of 96 Pakistani athletes with intellectual disabilities (ID) participated and won medals in various categories in the Special Olympics World Games held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.

Six of them from Lahore were honoured as part of a prize distribution ceremony.  The cash prizes were given to Imran Ghaffar, for winning two gold medals in cycling, Muhammad Umer  for two silvers in Badminton, Yasir Bashir for one silver in Cycling, Rizwan Tayab for one Bronze in Basketball, Furqan Iqbal for one Bronze in Cycling and Sabrina Tauheed who received a Bronze in Futsal.

During his address, the air chief congratulated the winners for their achievements and praised them for their determination and hard work.

He also encouraged the special athletes to better their performance by working even harder and making the country proud like they already have.

Air Chief Khan further added that PAF has always supported the extracurricular activities of individuals with ID and has worked for their welfare.

The air chief also met with the recipients (special athletes) and their families after the ceremony and assured them that any problems they have will be solved promptly.
