Sources confirmed to The Express Tribune that SJC has issued a notice to the AGP for July 12, which will be the third SJC meeting on the presidential references against two judges.
It is learned that Justice Qazi Faez Isa has already submitted his reply in SJC with regard to the presidential reference against his alleged non-disclosure of three foreign properties, owned by his wife. Likewise, SHC judge KK Agha has also his submitted reply.
It is expected that the AGP will submit his response over the judges replies on charges against them.
SJC hears presidential references against judges
In its second hearing of the references, which lasted for 10 minutes, neither the attorney general of Pakistan (AGP) nor the accused judges appeared before the SJC.
A partial strike was witnessed at the Islamabad High Court Bar and the district bar association. Lawyers only appeared for important and urgent cases.
A five-member SJC bench – comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Singh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh and the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth heard the references against Justice Faez Isa for allegedly possessing properties in the United Kingdom.
Justice Isa has already recused himself from being part of any bench and hearing cases.
