Indian Spy: Sister optimistic about release

LAHORE: Dalbir Kaur, sister of, Sarabjit Singh, who is on death row for espionage and terrorism, says she is determined that her brother would be released by the Pakistani government one day. Talking to reporters on Friday, Kaur thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for allowing her to meet her brother twice during her one-month stay in Pakistan. Kaur appealed to both the Pakistani and Indian government that prisoners in jails across the border should be allowed to meet their relatives. Having met various politicians, human rights activists, and lawyers including Aitazaz Ahsan and Hamid Khan, she said, she would leave Pakistan with hope that her brother’s death sentence would be converted to imprisonment. She also appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Interior Minister Rehman Malik in this regard. Kaur will visit Iqbal’s tomb on Saturday and leave for India on July 5.
