Traffic police have launched a safety week in collaboration with ZIC Motor Oil from July to 4 to July 10 to promote awareness amongst the public about the various hazards on the roads.

Traffic police should earn goodwill among public and and convince the citizens of the advantage of abiding by traffic rules, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir said. He said that the traffic police was the face of Lahore police and they should maintain good relations with the public.

Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmad Mobin said traffic safety week had been launched on the directions of the CCPO. He said the purpose of the exercise was to make people aware of the dangers of driving recklessly. Mobin said all sorts of media would be used to convey this message. .

He said the campaign was mainly about educating drivers on speeding and lane discipline. He pointed out that the most dangerous thing besides one-wheeling was when people spoke on their mobiles phones while driving.

Mobin said that in this week traffic rule violators would be advised to obey traffic rules rather than being fined or being issued tickets.
