Road safety: Monitoring under-age driving

Officer appeals to parents for not handing over vehicles to children before they get their driving license.

City Traffic Police launched a comprehensive campaign against juvenile drivers in the city on Monday.In a statement, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr Muhammad Azam said that strict action will be taken against juvenile drivers, adding that their vehicles will also be impounded without any discrimination.


He said that many incidents of under-age driving have occurred as the drivers were not aware of traffic rules and regulations.

Apparently juvenile drivers drive rashly. Speeding and wheeling are factors that put that many render other road users’ lives in danger, he added.

The CTO appealed to parents that they should not hand over the keys of their vehicles to the children until they get an official driving license.

He directed sector in charge and traffic wardens not to spare the juvenile but register cases against them and confiscate their vehicles.
