According to sources in Ministry of Health, the children are aged around between two months to four years. Three cases are reported from Bannu’s union councils Sardi Khel, Norar and Santinga, while two from Torghar’s uc Harnail.
Until now, a total of 37 polio cases have been confirmed in the country during 2019, with KP alone having 31 cases. Sources said that three polio cases each have been confirmed in Sindh and Punjab this year.
The focal person for polio eradication in Pakistan Babar Bin Ata has appealed the nation to ensure that every child is vaccinated.
“We have launched several projects for polio but none of them worked for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said, adding that “the government also took ulemas and imams on board for the purpose, but the residents of KP continue to have reservations”.
