RAWALPINDI: A man shot himself in the abdomen with a rifle, after a heated argument with his father who told him to be polite with neighbours.

Samreen Akhtar told the Mandra police that she had married Rizwan Akhtar a year ago. Akhtar, a dealer of electronic appliances, developed psychological disorder last month.

She said that her husband was under treatment in Rawalpindi.

However, on Monday during breakfast Akhtar’s father told him not to use harsh language with the neighbours and be polite with them.

Akhtar flew into a fit of rage and after heated argument with him went inside his father’s room, picked up his rifle and shot self in abdomen.

Police have registered a suicide attempt case and started investigation.

In Pakistan people attemting suicide may face up to one year imprisonment.

Thieves sweep trader’s home

A gang of thieves cleaned up a businessman’s house in Millatabad area.

Shahid told the Race Course police that his house was robbed when he was away.

Police reached the site and called the forensic experts to collect fingerprints.

Shahid told the police that he had locked his house before he went to attend the funeral of a close relative. However, a gang of robbers broke in to the house by cutting the grill of a window.

The robbed all cash and jewellery kept in the closets along with other valuables, Shahid said. The police have opened a case and started investigation.
