Tragedy: Geologist dies in phosphate mines

ABBOTTABAD: A geologist died on Wednesday when the roof of a mine collapsed in Tarnawai area, some 22 kilometres from here. According to the police and witnesses Dr Khurshid Ahmed, a consultant on mining was on an inspection tour of phosphate mines when the roof of the mine fell down, killing him on the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent to his native area in Lahore. This is the second incident this week. Earlier a young man was also killed when he was hit by a stone in a mine in Kabul village.
