Family members of Baz Mohammad, the victim, took to the street to protest against the Quaid-i-Azam International Hospital and demanded the federal capital's police chief to take immediate action of the incident.
According to the aggrieved family, Baz was suffering from multiple diseases while under treatment at the hospital since several days. They also alleged that the victim was placed on ventilator for 'minting money' even after his death.
However, the hospital administration has refuted the allegations.
Medical negligence leads to woman's death in Karachi
Meanwhile, Raees, the nephew of Baz, said that his uncle was shifted to the hospital after he was diagnosed with intestine infection and paid Rs400,000 for his operation.
Following the operation, he said that the condition of his uncle was further worsened and he underwent four more surgeries of which the total hospital bill was up to Rs3.7 million.
On the other hand, the hospital management claimed that the patient’s bill was paid by one of the donors instead of the family.
Later, the family members ended their protest after negotiations with the police.
In a similar incident in April, a woman died due to alleged negligence of doctors and staff at a government hospital in Karachi's Korangi No 5.
