LAHORE:

A 20 per cent increase in gas prices planned by the government is likely to have negative repercussions on the economy, and remove export-oriented industries from the international export market, according to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Shahzad Ali Malik.

In a statement, Malik said that the increase in gas tariff would further increase inflation, therefore it would be a wise decision for the government to put the plan on hold, he said.  He claimed that even the slightest increase in the cost of production, would remove Pakistani merchandise from the international export market.
