Two motorcyclists killed by speeding car

Witnesses said two to three people were in the car who fled the scene after the accident

KARACHI: A speeding car collided with a motorcycle on Khayaban-e-Bukhari in Defence Housing Authority on Monday, leaving two dead.

A Toyota Fortuner bearing registration number 4213 hit a motorcycle in Phase-VI, in the limits of Darakhshan Police Station, killing two passengers riding a motorcycle.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in an Edhi ambulance where they were identified as 24-year-old Abdul Qadir, son of Bashir Ahmed, and 48-year-old Muhammad Nawaz, son of Taj Muhammad. Nawaz was a resident of Mehmoodabad.

Darakhshan Police Station ASI Ramazan said that the deceased appeared to be labourers by profession.

He added that the police was making efforts to establish contact with the families of the deceased.

The SHO at the police station said that the police learned about the incident at 10am through helpline 15. The police then reached the scene and shifted the bodies to JPMC.

The SHO said that according to the witnesses, there were two to three people in the car and they fled the scene after the incident. He added after taking the vehicle into custody, that police shifted it to the police station.

The ASI said that upon checking the registration of the vehicle on the excise department's website, they learned that the car was taken on a bank loan and is registered under the name of a citizen, Muhammad Asghar.

He added that the police was trying to determine who was present in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
