LHC orders Punjab govt to announce elections date

Express June 09, 2010

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) instructed the Punjab Government on Wednesday to announce a date for local government elections.

The LHC acted on a petition filed by the District Nazim's Association.

Counsel for the Association, Fawad Chaudhry pleaded that delaying the local government elections is a violation of the constitution and shows the government's dishonesty.

On this the Lahore High Court ordered the Punjab government to submit its reply by the first of July.
