PESHAWAR: Sleuths of the top anti-corruption watchdog in the province have arrested the former sub-registrar of Peshawar for his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and purchase of valuable plots which were allotted to the TB Association and causing massive losses to the exchequer. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chapter of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former Peshawar sub-registrar Syed Qasim Shah after investigations showed that he had allegedly sold the two plots, measuring four kanals and five marlas and five kanals and eight marlas respectively in Peshawar. The plots were allotted to the TB Association on concessional rates for the construction of a tuberculosis clinic and rehabilitation centre. The property was not to be used for any purpose other than for which it was sanctioned and could not be transferred to any entity other than the association. However, the land was sold to a private individual in gross violation of the law and Shah allegedly illegally registered the land deeds.
