Well-placed sources in the police revealed that Karachi Company Police arrested Tahir Bega in a fake cheque case and immediately informed Aabpara Police about it as the suspect’s name was also found in a list of wanted suspects.
The investigation officer of the two-year old case had earlier tried to avoid arresting the suspect. He also allegedly tried to hand over the investigation to another officer. However, he was bound to arrest the suspect as the current Islamabad Police IG Tahir Zulfiqar Khan, had earlier strictly directed action against all wanted suspects.

When contacted by The Express Tribune, the relevant investigation officer said that the nature of case was not very serious. He also claimed that the assumed suspect was not responsible for the crime which he was accused of. He added that the suspect would be presented before the court on Monday.
In response to a question, he said that the suspect was accused of injuring people through gun fire in a property dispute case.
He added that the police recovered no weapon from the suspect despite numerous efforts which was typically a requirement in such cases.
Subsequently, the SHO Karachi Company Police endorsed his arrest and handed the suspect over to Aabpara Police. He said that the Aabpara Police did not become active until his police registered a case against the suspect which involved bogus cheques.
