Zain Shah's murder declared mob lynching

RAWALPINDI:

An important development has been made in the investigation of the inhumane murder of Zain Shah in the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town area of Dhamial police station. The police have declared the incident as a case of mob lynching by adding Section 11 WW of the Anti-Terrorism Act to the case.

According to the police, six accused involved in the mob lynching have been arrested after the registration of the new sections. The arrested persons include Amjad Khan, Shah Hussain, Abdul Basit, Hamza Khan, Noman Khan and Sohail Mahmood. The accused were presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court which granted the police a ten-day physical remand.

Investigating authorities say that during the remand, the accused will be questioned about other accomplices, the planning of the incident and the motorcycle used in Zain's kidnapping.

According to the police, the double murder incident took place on May 8 in Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town. According to initial investigations, a dispute over a transaction of Rs1,300, had led to Siraj Mehsud going to Zain Shah's house along with his associates, where a heated argument turned into a shootout that killed Mehsud.

Mehsud's relatives were enraged at his death. They gathered a group and lynched Zain Shah, subjecting him to inhumane torture, ultimately killing him.
