Hospitals prepare duty roster for Eid holidays

All staff directed to report to emergency wards in case of an incident

ISLAMABAD: The two large tertiary care hospitals in the federal capital have prepared their emergency duty rosters for the Eidul Fitr holidays.

However, the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and the Polyclinic Hospital will remain closed during the Eid holidays. The emergency departments, though, will remain open.

In Pims, the hospital head is expected to distribute Eid gifts amongst patients and their attendants.

Doctors from every department will be deployed according to the rotation policy while six senior doctors will remain on-call in case of an emergency.

All faculty consultants, TMOs’, managerial staff, nursing staff, paramedics, information technology staff and grade-IV employees will perform their duties according to their duty rosters.

All staff has been directed to rush to the emergency department in the event of any untoward incident.

The deputy executive directors and assistant executive directors will personally monitor operations in the hospitals.

Transport supervisors will keep ambulances and the related staff alert while oxygen in-charge will ensure availability of oxygen stock.

The emergency department in-charge will keep the related department vigilant to cope with the occurrence of an emergency.

Furthermore, the pharmacy executive director has been tasked with ensuring the adequate quantity of related materials in emergency wards as well as other relevant departments of the hospitals. Deputy executive director would also be responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of medicines in both departments.
