The guesthouses opened for the general public included 90 of the irrigation department, 41 of the forest department, 17 of the agriculture department, 10 of the communication and works department, 15 of the local bodies department and four rest houses owned by the Punjab Livestock Department.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said these guesthouses have been opened for the general public to find them suitable temporary accommodation. People can book rooms in these guesthouses by visiting the official website of the department concerned or Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab’s website.
The chief minister has directed officials concerned to take immediate action to get some guesthouses freed from illegal occupants and a report should be submitted to his office after their retrieval. He also ordered strict action against land grabbers. He said the government would soon open other government guesthouses for the general public.
Meanwhile, Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday and discussed different matters, including security arrangements on Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr. Other matters that came up for discussion included cleanliness arrangements and the safety of swings.
