RAWALPINDI: To meet modern day requirements, the Punjab Educational Department has planned to take revolutionary steps in the next fiscal budget.

In this regard, the provincial government aims to install biometric attendance systems in government-run schools — much like the systems installed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI) government in neighbouring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) — to check how punctual teachers are.

Moreover, they will be promoted and transferred through an online “E-promotion” portal which has been recently set up.

Moreover, the 52,000 government-run schools across Punjab will hire “temporary teachers” on 70,000 vacant seats owing to the current pressing financial conditions.
