Isaac Hempstead Wright, who played Bran Stark aka the Three Eyed Raven, said the choice of his unexpected rule over the six kingdoms was by the creator of the book series George R. R. Martin, Pinkvilla reported.
Bran's ending certainly didn't rub some viewers the right way though. For the unversed, after many deaths and expulsions over the seasons, the character became the show's most powerful character and dubbed as Bran the Broken.
Many took to Twitter to troll GoT's unexpected twist of Bran becoming ruler.

People were unable to hide their disappointment, with one Twitter user slamming Bran as "worse than the Night King."
This little POS played us all. Started all the shit and watched people die so he can become king. Bran is even worse than the Night King. Give me my 8 yrs back #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/kg3TpuIfMx

But Wright defended the show's controversial decision, saying it was planned by the author all along. He said, "[Show ceators] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] told me there were two things George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king."
He added, “So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up."
Martin is currently working on two books The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring and has said that the endings of the books can be different from the show.
The author teased fervent fans of the loved stories, saying, "How will it all end? I hear people asking. The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes."
He is also aware of the criticism that the last season received and Martin commented on the same and said that his fans should read the books as well and then they can argue about it on the internet.
