As the 2019 Cricket World Cup kicks off today in London, Google marked the occasion with an interactive doodle.

"Over 100 players, 10 teams, but only one cup. Today’s Doodle celebrates the International Cricket Council’s 2019 World Cup, which opens at the Oval in London," says a statement released along with the doodle.

The doodle shows the first 'O' replaced by a cricket ball and the letter 'L' being represented by cricket stumps. When you hover over the doodle, an animated video shows a bowler bowling to a batsman and once the ball is hit, a fielder catches it.

Clicking on the doodle takes you to search results for the keyword 'Cricket World Cup 2019' where the tournament schedule and other details are available.

"No matter how heated the competition may get, cricket is highly respected for maintaining high standards of fair play and good sportsmanship. Hence the phrase “It’s just not cricket,” which describes anything considered unfair. May the best team win!," adds the Google statement.

The first game of the tournament will be played today at The Oval in London between England and South Africa. The final is scheduled for July 14.
