ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) on Wednesday decided to build a world class motel at Daman-e-Koh, located in the foothills of Margalla Hills, to turn the scenic spot into an ideal destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

“A motel will be constructed through public-private partnership within few months to cater to the influx of tourists in future,” PTDC Chairman Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari said while chairing a meeting at Flashman’s Hotel, the corporation’s head office.

This was decided at the 85th meeting of board members which took place after a long pause of five years.

The PTDC chairman said the site would be developed on modern lines and private transportation companies would be encouraged to meet the mobility needs of the tourists. He observed that there was no proper transportation system for tourists to visit the most beautiful scenic spot from where a bird’s eye view could be taken of the federal capital.

The board’s private member Aftab Muhammad Rana suggested engaging the private companies from tourism industry in order to materialise this plan. He also said private sector had a key role in boosting local tourism.
