Summers are back and like it or not, it’s time to embrace all that sticky and sweaty.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t try and make the experience a little less agonising for yourself. If seen from a broader perspective, summertime is not all that bad. As Bryan Procter said, "Oh, the summer night, has a smile of light and she sits on a sapphire throne." And one of the first steps to changing your attitude towards the summer is by switching up your house.

Yup! From changing the bed sheets to the window design, small changes you can make around your humble abode can help make it breezy and so, cooler for the next few months. And it’ll create space for light and air to come inside too. So, as compiled from Pinkvilla, here are some tricks to help you rearrange the interiors of your house and make it easier to live in it without an AC.

Create cute outdoor spaces

We get that the idea of sitting outside in the soaring temperatures makes you want to whack us but hold your horses! Come monsoon season, it’s actually rather nice and breezy outdoors – at least, in the nighttime. So why not create a cool set up in your garden or on your roof with some cushions and tiny tables? Let the indoor-outdoor lifestyle help you relax and refresh with friends and family.

Opt for window seating

This isn’t just for long-haul flights! Put your ACs off, open your window and create a small seating area right next to it. And if you really want to go the distance then invest in new curtains of light, summery shades and accent then with similar-coloured cushion covers. Add some indoor plants to complete the look. Voila!

Widen your doors

If your new place is still under construction, you’re really luck. It’s the ideal time to pester your architect into broadening the doors therein. Why?  Well, wide pivot doors allow for the free flow of air in and out of a room. Guaranteed, you’ll be thanking us once you’ve moved in.

Beach vibes

Again, the colours in a room greatly impact its temperature and overall feel. If you want it to be nice and cool, opt for paints, wallpapers and upholstery in lighter shades to get that feel. If you like the classics 1960s touch, bring your room alive with a beach cottage vibe.

Add greenery wherever you can

Honestly, nature is full of blessings we more often than not ignore. Head to the nearest nursery and grab yourself some leafy greens to place inside and all around your house. Not only will the touch of green brighten up your living space, it will also make it more fresh and natural. Not to mention, the plants will help purify the air within and also moderate the temperature.
