Police officials have registered an FIR regarding Sunday’s blast at a police post in the city that left several policemen injured.
While an expert suggested the blast was caused by low explosives and had occurred inside the building, police officials have continued with an investigation into possible suspects.
According to police officials, they have not yet ascertained how the blast occurred.
An official at the New Multan police station said that an FIR was registered regarding the blast from information received from Sub-Inspector Rehmat Ali under Section 3 subsection 4 Explosives Act, and Sections 324 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
No accused has been named in the FIR and no one has been arrested so far. District Civil Defence Officer Shahid Pervaiz, who recently handed over charge of his office to his deputy said that he had visited the site of the blast and believed that it had occurred inside a room of the police post because the concrete floor of the post was damaged.
Experts have ruled out all chances that the attack was the result of a suicide bombing.
