Beyond military operations (III)

ISLAMABAD: Asad Munir’s article is well-written. What Hillary Clinton has said is really no different from what the Americans have said to us and done to us in the past. The last time they came to this part of the world, it was to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. They funnelled billions into funding the mujahideen who fought their war against the Soviet Union. And once the latter withdrew from Afghanistan the Americans also left the region in the lurch. Only if a small portion of those billions had been spent on building schools and hospitals in Afghanistan, perhaps things would have been different today.
