ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has decided to issue new stamp papers and court fee papers with modern security features to prevent use of fake stamp papers, say sources.

According to sources, the revenue boards of all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have been asked to send their demand for stamp papers as new designs of papers of various denominations have been approved.

They said printing of stamp papers would begin at the Security Printing Corporation of Pakistan after demand information was received from the provinces. The sale of new stamp papers will start from next financial year, however, old stamp papers will also continue to be sold.

Sources said at present the provinces had ample stock of old stamp papers and sale of such papers would continue till a decision was made about them. The largest stock is with the Balochistan government.

Sources said the new stamp paper would carry a receipt coupon on which details like the name of purchaser, address, computerised national identity card number and date of issue of the paper will be entered. The stamp paper vendor will have to submit these receipt coupons to the treasury department.

The purpose of the new design is to discourage the use of fake stamp papers and designs of stamp papers of all provinces will differ from each other.
