CDA runs operation against showrooms in Islamabad

Clears pathways, public places, service lanes in main markets

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) is conducting vigorous operations to eliminate the encroachment made by illegal occupiers, car dealerships and showrooms and others on footpaths and parking areas in main markets of Islamabad.

People were finding it difficult to walk on footpaths due to encroachment made by motor car dealers in markets.

Pedestrian movement is affecting very badly and citizens have to face difficulties in parking due to illegitimate ramps constructed by car motor dealers and showrooms owners and illegal occupiers on footpaths and parking areas of the markets. In this connection, a vigorous operation was conducted in markaz G-8 on Saturday and several illegal encroachments hindering the pedestrian movement were demolished and removed.

The operation was participated by around 300 officers and officials including Enforcement Directorate, ICT Administration, Islamabad Police, Traffic Police, Reserve police and relevant staff of other concerned formations.

While ADC (General), ICT was also present to monitor law & order situation. During operation heavy machinery was also used to remove illegally constructed ramps.

During this operation, several illegally constructed ramps, illegal structures were demolished while unattended parked vehicles of car motor dealers and showrooms in the public parking area have been shifted to Police Station, Karachi Company.

Furthermore, six car showrooms including Auto Drive, Car Enclosure, New Car & Cars, Car Masters, Car Wells Rental and Pak Islamabad Motors were also sealed during the operation.

Similarly, three illegal kiosks, two barriers and a roadside eatery along with a tea-stall were also bulldozed during the operation.

The operation will be remain continue and its scope will be further expanded to all Markaz and business centres of Islamabad so that parking areas as well as footpaths and verandas of markets would be freed from encroachers and pedestrian movement general public visiting these markets could be facilitated.
