Kid with thalassemia gets his wish fulfilled

Boy made a part of snap checking exercise in front of a shopping mall in Karachi

KARACHI: The police helped a minor suffering from thalassemia realise his dream to become a police officer.

Yohana Sajid is a school going child. He expressed his wish to become a police officer and wear the uniform when he gets older. South DIG Sharjeel Kharal told The Express Tribune that with the help of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and civil society, the police were able to fulfil the boy's dream.

The boy was made a part of snap checking exercise in front of a shopping mall near the sea side in Clifton. Yohana himself stopped many cars and issued challans to the vehicles found violating traffic rules.

Kharal said that he hoped this effort would help bridge the gap between the police and the citizens.

He said that the police have increased snap checking in Ramazan. They are accompanied by CPLC officials in this exercise and so cars get verified at the same time. He said that they will leave no stone unturned for the security and protection of the people's lives and property.
