ISPR spokesperson: ‘Sinister drive’ against army will be foiled

Military spokesperson said that unwarranted criticism of army by media is causing serious harm to the country.

The military spokesperson on Sunday said that unwarranted criticism of the Pakistan Army by local and international media is causing serious harm to the country.

Speaking to the state-run PTV, ISPR spokesperson Maj Gen Athar Abbas quoted a report in the New York Times and the Washington Post, and said: “The entire statement was fabricated with malicious intent, and COAS Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani never said that Pakistan had mortgaged itself to the US.”

The NYT published a story in the name of ISPR on June 15 headlined ‘Pakistan’s chief of army fights to keep his job’, wherein it claimed on the basis of notes of a participant of a session at the National Defence University addressed by Gen Kayani that the army chief had acknowledged that the country had mortgaged itself to the US.

The participant was not identified in the news report. “We have the recorded video proof and transcript of the whole address of General Ashfaq Kayani.”

He said that the ISPR with the help of ministry of information took up the case against the local correspondent for his irresponsible reporting and to cancel his visa but the resident editor and foreign correspondent editor of the newspaper in person came to Pakistan and apologised to the ISPR.

Maj-Gen Abbas said that these days the international and national media in particular, and local talk shows in general, were focusing on maligning the Pakistan Army as well as the law-enforcement agencies.

Some voices have also been heard in the print section and on TV channels, and the end result seems to be a well-thought-out and skillfully designed sinister campaign to create a negative image of the Pakistan Army, which would save the motherland from any catastrophe.

“Sinister” is a very mild term for what is going on in international and local media and what is being done by the opportunist politicians of one political party. All these people, whether immature media anchors or politicians known for corruption, are reinforcing the perceptions created by CIA and other agencies. They should wake up to the harsh realities and realize that this Pakistan army bashing is the first part of the Fourth Generation Warfare (4GW) being waged against Pakistan. By weakening army, these partners of global conspiracy are doing no good to their own country.Recommend

The only sinister people here are the military and ISI. They can’t bare the truth because it’s revealing how useless and incompetent the Pakistani military is. They hate letting Pakistan’s people know that they have not won a single war, they don’t have the will to fight the terrorists because they not only created them but continue to support them, and they have no interest in defending Pakistan.

They just want to defend their plot, their BMW 7-series limo, and their vacations to Dubai and Switzerland.

Pakistan – wake up. The problem IS the ISI. The problem IS the military. The problem IS the Salafi-Wahabi Mullahs. The problem IS Imran Khan and his ilk who refuse to put the blame where it belongs. Pakistan has become a nation of cowards. No one, except a brave few, is willing to fight for what’s right. The US media with local media are conspiring against the army, and you are promptly exposing their lies. Thank you very much for telling the truth and keeping us informed.

How about the stories of keeping OBL in Abbottabad for 5 long years? Why don’t you expose those lies? Aiding and abetting OBL are much bigger and more damaging “allegations” against Pakistan. The nation deserves the truth. Please expose those blatant lies (that 2/3 of Pakistanis don’t believe) of the foreign media our good general!Recommend

insteadf of shooting the messengers, our respectable establishment should get rid of its addiction to islamic fascism.due to its flawed policy it has been promoting and funding islamic militants for thirty years now,but now the monsters have turned on their our establishment should realise that it has got to de-islamisize the armed forces after the horrific damage that zia’s islamization campaign has caused .

it is time our soldiers realised that this army is pakistan’s army not islam’s army and the first loyalty of our soldiers should lie with pakistan and religion or anything else is secondary.Recommend

    Dear Army,

Please do not waste your time by clarifying your position on what is published in NYT.

Define a line between what is in our interest and what is not in our military operation in Northern areas…..go for negotiations for all the parties including Taliban, if America can sit on negotiation table with Taliban so should Pak Army

Pak Army at all cost should refrain from operations with in Pakistan and should solve all the internal problems by dialogue and by setting their own deadlines for operations if extremely necessary

Iran and Saudi Arabia should be given open warnings against financing militants…. I wonder why Pakistan has not yet been able to find out and stop the financiers of the Militants.Recommend

@Ali Khan: That is a blatant lie. Do you really believe that with the Indians believe that despite the surrender of 90,000 pakistan soldiers, India lost the war ? And despite getting Pakistani soldiers to vacate the heights of Kargill, Indians believe they lost that too ?

Go to wikipedia and do a search on the words “blood telegram” – read that article – signed by an entire embassy to its own government rejecting the policy of thier own government. That telegram, gives you the reason why Pakistan had already lost the war of 1971, before even hostilities began. Don’t blame the Indians for this, Pakistan reaped what it had sowed.Recommend
