RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi will supply clean drinking water to the citizens by treating its water tankers with chlorine disinfectant for first time.

The disinfectant formula was earlier used in water tanks in Rawalpindi cantonment and Chaklala only. The disinfection is maintained through passing chlorine through empty water tanks with pressure owing to which the water purity is maintained for a longer period even if the tanker was refilled.

Some 19 out of 24 water tanks have been through disinfection process while a schedule for water supply from these tanks has been made. Earlier, the citizens suffered gastrointestinal disorders when untreated water was consumed particularly after the raining season.
