The producer did not mention Hrithik or Super 30 directly but noted that both teams were involved with the decision-making process and that she hopes there will be no ‘mud-slinging.' “This is a call taken by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji telefilms considering better prospects for the film at the box office,” the statement read. Mental Hai Kya was originally slated for release on June 21, when it would have clashed against Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh.

Interestingly, Kangana had earlier set her film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi up against Super 30 on January 26, but the Hrithik-starrer was delayed after director Vikas Bahl was named in India's #MeToo movement. The film’s post production is being overseen by Anurag Kashyap but it will not carry a director’s credit.
Hrithik and Kangana have a long personal animosity. They were involved in a widely publicised dispute after the Queen starlet called him a ‘silly ex,’ which the actor denied.
