Staffers called off the strike scheduled for Monday after AGP Khan assured them that a summary on the matter will be sent to the prime minister for review. He further maintained that all employees shall be granted the allowances as per the rules.
Anwar Mansoor Khan appointed as new AGP
Over 400 AGP employees had announced to observe a pen-down strike on April 29 for being stripped off judicial allowances. They argued that the role of official working staff at the Attorney General's office falls under the administrative and judicial category of superior courts. In addition, the job description and working hours of these employees do not differ from those who work in upper courts either.
Employees further argued that the establishment of courts is getting judicial allowance equal to three times of the initial substantive payscale. Legal officers including advocate generals are also being given the allowance whereas the staff is being deprived of the same.
The AGP held a meeting to resolve the matter on Friday to meet the demands of the workers.
