The Rawat Police said that the van’s occupants including driver, cashier and two security guards stopped for a meal at a local hotel near Kalyam Mor. Meanwhile, six robbers, driving a car and a motorcycle, approached them and held the staff hostage on gunpoint. The robbers managed to loot Rs25.8 million from the van and injured two guards with butt of the pistol when they resisted.
As soon as the information was conveyed, the police party under SP Saddar reached the site immediately.
The cash owner was immediately called on the spot by the police and the staff in the van was taken into custody for investigation which is being done on a forensic basis. The City Police Officer (CTO) Abbas Ahsan is monitoring the investigation.
The police are making efforts to obtain Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footages.
The CTO said the record of the cash inside the van was seized by the police. Moreover, three teams have been formed to arrest the suspects.
