LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif underwent medical treatment for the seventh time at the Sharif Medical Complex Hospital here on Monday since his release on bail for six weeks on March 26.

A board of doctors including professors of cardiology, medicine, nephrology & urology examined his MRI, CT scan, ECG and pathology reports. It is in view of these reports that the board will decide on angioplasty or open heart surgery for him.

Sources said that the arteries supplying blood to Nawaz’s brain are facing blockage, as had earlier been stated by his personal physician, Dr Adnan. However, the timeline for installing a pacemaker has not been determined and there are other options that are being considered.

Dr Adnan said that the roadmap of treatment has not yet been decided and nor can it be said until what time the treatment would continue.

The former premier spent an hour and a quarter at the hospital and then left for home. Nawaz was released from Kot Lakhpat jail on March 26 after the Supreme Court granted him bail for six weeks allowing him to get medical treatment from doctors of his choice in the country.
