Five children injured as water tank explodes in Karachi

KARACHI: Five young children sustained burn injuries after a water tank burst in a house in Qasim Gabol Goth near Safoora Chowrangi on Sunday. The children were immediately shifted to the burns ward in Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.

The police reached the place of incident, house no 150, and started investigation.

Sachal Police SHO Javed Abro said that the house belonged to a man named Saqib and had been rented out to Abdul Karim who resides there.

He said that the water tank in the house had not been in use for a long time and since it was empty, gas had filled inside the tank. The family placed a gas stove on the lid of the tank and when they turned it on, the tank exploded.

Abdul Karim's five children, including Ataullah, Akbar Sabir and Karima, sustained burn injuries. The ages of the children range between three and five years. The SHO said that the children were out of danger.
