Allergy patients throng capital’s hospitals as pollen season sets in

Doctors advise patients to wear masks

ISLAMABAD: With the changing climate the varying diseases have disturbed the capital’s locals. In the city, the seasonal increase in the amount of pollen has led many residents of the capital to the hospital with complaints of headache, fever, throat infection and breathing difficulty.

Doctors say that with change in season the diseases change too, these days in Islamabad, most people are affected by pollen allergies, which have resultantly caused more people to suffer from sinus, fever and headaches.

Doctors said that the patients infected with pollen allergy have difficulty in breathing, walking, fastened heartbeat, restlessness and heavy sweating. Doctors have discouraged people from leaving the house, and instead emphasised getting rest.

In this regard Maternity Care Hospital (MCH) Islamabad In-Charge Dr Muhammad Sharif says that though these days the number of pollen in Islamabad has decreased; most Islamabad locals are getting affected by it.

Dr Sharif said that in case of a pollen allergy attack the patient should reach out to the nearest hospital. He suggested that people infected with pollen allergies should abstain from stepping out while to remain protected from pollen allergy, a mask should be used while stepping out of the house in the morning, people should wash their hands and face multiple times and keep the doors and windows of house closed at night, evening.

Polyclinic Hospital’s Assistant Executive Director Dr Abdul Wali Khan says that with change in the season, the diseases change too, these days the cases coming to hospitals are of patients infected with pollen allergy, headache, breathing issues, fever.

Furthermore he added that all arrangements for treatment of people with pollen allergies are available at the hospital. To curb these epidemics and to treat infected patients, hospitals are stocked with medicine and oxygen. The availability of more and more nebulizers is ensured while a special ward is designated so that in case of an emergency, the situation can be controlled.

It should be noted that the National Health Department in the beginning of this month had issued an alert regarding the diseases in which pollen allergy patients were advised to use a mask, stay at home, avoid social interactions and avoid petting animals.
