ISLAMABAD: A day after Prime Minister Imran Khan reshuffled his cabinet, his main political rivals Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) launched a fresh attack on him with its spokesperson terming the former an "incompetent captain of a defeated team" on Friday.

Reacting to Prime Minister Imran’s address in Khyber district earlier in the day, Marriyum Aurangzeb, in a statement, said the premier should reveal names of those hatching conspiracies to topple his government. “He [PM Imran] said someone was trying to topple his government, whereas, only his incompetence, inadequacy and selection of words were enough to unseat him,” she remarked.

The PML-N stalwart commented that the prime minister looked tensed and worried in today’s public appearance in tribal areas. She also questioned reasons behind anger Imran Khan allegedly exhibited during his Orakzai speech. “Are you [PM] angry because you could not complete even a single project like Lahore Metro Bus?” she remarked.

PM Imran hints at further cabinet changes after 'batting order' shuffle

Seeking answers for the trouble the masses had to go through in the past nine months of this government’s rule, Marriyum said the youth are no longer praying for employment but for the prime minister's dismissal from his post.

Following the major reshuffle in the federal cabinet, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, his counterpart in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Shah Farman are now added to the hit list, she claimed.

Earlier while addressing the public gathering, PM Imran said he would not hesitate to make more changes to his cabinet if required. The statement comes a day after a major reshuffle that saw the appointment of a new finance minister and nine other ministerial switches.

The cabinet shakeup, which comes eight months after the prime minister took office, included the replacement of former finance minister Asad Umar, who has been a close ally to Imran for many years, with Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in a renamed role to steer the country out of worsening economic turmoil.
